Equipment

  • 1 Baking sheet (Lined with parchment or foil)
  • 1 Fork (For splitting muffins)
  • 1 Spoon (For spreading sauce)
  • 1 Pastry brush (For brushing muffins with oil/butter)
  • 1 Oven or Air Fryer (Oven 400°F / Air Fryer 375°F)

Ingredients

  • 4 English muffins split in half - yields 8 halves
  • 1 cup Pizza sauce - or marinara
  • 2 cups Shredded mozzarella cheese - divided
  • ½ cup Mini pepperoni - optional
  • 1 tablespoon Olive oil or butter - for brushing muffins
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning - optional
  • ½ teaspoon Garlic powder - optional

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 400°F (or air fryer to 375°F). Split muffins with a fork to preserve nooks and crannies. Place cut-side up on baking sheet and brush lightly with olive oil or butter. Toast 3–4 minutes to prevent sogginess.
A tray of English muffin halves brushed with melted butter and lightly browned on top, next to a small bowl of butter and a pastry brush.
  • Sprinkle a thin layer of shredded mozzarella directly on the toasted muffins.
  • Spoon ~2 tablespoons of pizza sauce over the cheese. Sprinkle Italian seasoning and garlic powder.
