Ingredients

The Apple Base

  • 1 cup Fresh apple cider - Reduce to ½ cup
  • 2 cups All-purpose flour - Spoon & level
  • ¾ cup Brown sugar - Light or dark
  • 2 large Eggs - Room temp
  • ½ cup Buttermilk - Or milk + lemon juice
  • 4 tablespoon Unsalted butter - Melted

The Spice Mix

  • 1 teaspoon Ground cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon Fresh nutmeg - Or ground ½ amount
  • ¼ teaspoon Ground ginger - Optional
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract

The Leaveners

  • 1 teaspoon Baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon Baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon Salt

For Rolling

  • ½ cup Granulated sugar - For coating
  • 1 tablespoon Ground cinnamon - Mix with sugar
  • 2 tablespoon Butter - Melted for brushing

Instructions

  • Simmer apple cider to half, then cool completely.
